Join us for “C’est Magnifique!” our annual Bastille Day bike ride and picnic.  This is a short, relaxed ride through town, doable for almost anyone. Mainly it’s an excuse to dress up in your best French inspired outfit!

  • When: Saturday, July 12th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: Meet by bike at Hub and Bespoke (located here), make a few stops to get picnic items, and then gather at South Lake Union Park for un pique-nique et pétanque!*
  • What to bring: Your bike, your picnic supplies, and your buddies.
  • What to wear: Votre meilleur costume française (your best French outfit). Need inspiration? Check out pics from the 2012 and 2013 rides.

Très important! Bring some cash (~$20) to purchase your picnic goods from the local vendors we’ll be visiting.

*What is this pétanque we keep mentioning? Pétanque is a casual lawn game similar to bocce in which players take turns throwing metal balls, or boules, at a target ball called a cochonnet . Whoever is closest to the cochonnet at the end of a turn scores a point. Apparently some people are quite good at this.

There is a group of regular pétanque players who gather at South Lake Union Park nearly every weekend, and they will be on hand to teach us newcomers how to play the game.  We hope you’ll join us!

Prepare to flick that wrist! (Probably works best with a glass of Muscadet in your other hand.)
