Live music to support Bike Works… and a little gushing about Bike Works

You can click the image to enlarge it. We’re excited to support Bike Works with this live music performance next Friday. It’s on a rooftop! Hub and Bespoke is sponsoring the event, which is produced by M-bibe, an organization focused on supporting local non-profits and musicians. We hope you’ll join us for the show. No admission fee, but there will be a donation jar at the door for you to pay what you can / want to donate. Did we mention it’s on a rooftop? On Capitol Hill? Think of the views of the city and the mountains, especially in this weather!

Bike Works LogoSpeaking of Bike Works, can I just say how big a fan I am of this organization? In addition to all of their youth programs (my favorite is their Earn-a-bike program, in which kids can earn their own bicycle after they’ve provided 18 hours of bike repair service), they also operate a full-service bike shop with refurbished bicycles and new and used bike parts. I recently went to the shop in Columbia City with a friend to help her pick out her first city bike. The one we found was the right size, cute (very important), and reasonably priced, and the folks behind the counter were friendly and helpful (not condescending or intimidating). My friend was thrilled. If you’re in the market for a used bike, this is a great place to start.

You know what else I love about Bike Works? They’re the perfect place to bring any old bike components or accessories you may have lying around. Those of you who have been biking for some time know what I’m talking about. That box of miscellaneous parts in your garage or basement, filled with old pedals, stems, innertubes, etc., etc., all languishing from projects past or waiting for new ones that never seem to happen? Yup, it’s time for a purge. Bring those goodies down to Bike Works. You’ll not only free up storage space, but you’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing that your dusty bike parts will be cleaned up, put on someone else’s bicycle, and ridden around town again. Doesn’t that feel good? Okay, end gush. For now…

  1. Bikeworks is awesome! My company just did a volunteer day there and not only did we do a lot of good work, we learned a lot while having fun at the same time! I would highly suggest it! We also did a donation drive during B2W Month. It’s also my local source for almost any part I need for bike builds except for maybe some of the rare French stuff. Wish I could be there for this!
